One thing people don't think about is how they are judging without even realizing it. People who have been through trauma have to deal with judgement whether it is said to their face or behind their backs. It is so hard to accept, most of all because what they base their judgement on is usually wrong. As I learn to create and edit my blog, I will eventually have these in chronological order. I have medications that will help me function with a pain level of 2/3 and to not experience nausea 24/7. That is what people DO NOT see. They judge because they do not know the whole story. They don't know that certain medications have side effect so they judge. When they hear someone slurring their words, it doesn’t mean they are abusing their meds, it may just be one of the side effects of their medication or surgery side effects. I sometimes choose to not take some of my OIC (Opioid Induced Constipation) medications in order to be able to get out of bed before 10 am. The problem again is the aftermath - I won’t go into much more detail. For those of you reading my story, I am sure you have many similar experiences. We learn how to choose what is worth not taking medications for, if it’s a special event, we adjust. If we need to be able to perform certain tasks, we adjust. We choose to go through pain in order to be part of a timed event, party or physical event. We end up suffering for these choices but it would be worth it to at least look like a normal person with no issues.
